What I’m thankful for this year:

That’s my AMAZING uncle Bruce with my mom a couple of days after he gave her a kidney!  You have no idea.  It has been six weeks and one day since the transplant!!

“Greater has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 (NKJV)

Seriously you-super-resistant-strain-of-particularly-ugly-cold, LEAVE!  I’ve let you live here LONG ENOUGH.  TWO weeks is way too long for a house guest, especially when you’re mean to me.  One day I feel great, thinking SURELY you have left, only to wake up the NEXT day to find YOU ARE STILL HERE!  LEAVE you sneaky thing, LEAVE!
I went to see the nurse at my doctor’s office because I’ve lost hearing in my right ear from this cold, and she set she was gonna set up an appointment with an ENT doctor, and get back to me.  I’ve yet to hear back from her (ha, probably cause I can’t HEAR..j/j) Still can’t hear, which really only annoys me at worship in church, because I don’t know how loud I’m singing and if I’m even singing on key (okay so I probably don’t even do that when i CAN hear), but it’s kinda scary to think you could be embarassing yourself and not even know it.  Needless to say, it’s hindering my worship, stupid cold!  BAH!

Anyhoo, the world is still beautiful.  Today we went to the dialysis clinic where my mom got dialysis before the transplant, and I met all the people she knew there.  They are so funny.  There is this one older gentleman that is sure my mom’s name is Jennifer.  So we saw him and he yells “JENNIFER you look SOOO good!”  I was dying!  God is so creative when he designs people, I just love it.

I CANNOT WAIT TO GO TO EUROPE!!

I love you Lord!

I have the cold that will not die!

I baked like 80 chocolate chip cookies and this brownie-marshmallow thing yesterday.  Come on over and have some hot cocoa and something sweet, we’ve got plenty to spare!

Last night, before I went to bed I read this;
“Not often, but every once in a while, God brings us to a major turning point- a great crossroads in our life.  From that point we either go toward a more  and more slow, lazy, and useless Christian life, or we become more and more ON FIRE, giving OUR UTMOST for His HIGHEST, our BEST for HIS glory.”
~ Oswald Chambers
I was struck at the truth of how utterly useless I am as lukewarm Christian.  The truth is that God cannot use me unless I am in His will.  Oh that I would fight my flesh everyday to become on fire!

I love CHRISTmas!!  IT was wonderful, let’s do it again, SOOOOON!

“guess what? I love you, I love you, I LOOOOOVE you” - my favorite song (it’s from Elf)

I’m so happy!  Going to church last night, and then first thing this morning was the best thing to do on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  I’m so thankful, God is so good, to give us His son!  Thank you Lord!  Thank you for my material blessings, that you always take care of me, I’ve never known true hunger or homelessness.  Thank you for my friends who I love so dearly and make my world wonderful.  Thank you for my dear family, and that you provided a very special kidney so that I could celebrate lots more years with my mom.  You are so good!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

You’d think since I’m at home being a bum that I would update more…WELL HA I showed you!
I finally got over my nasty cold, hallelujah!  I’ve been enjoying lots of q-time with the family.  Talkin to mom, shopping with Alex and yesterday dad and I went to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, they have a lot more “fancy” pieces than I thought they would, although I have been there a couple of times before.  The guy at the help desk was a total hottie, started my enjoyment of “art” off well ;)
Alex and I were doing some last minute shopping Wednesday at the Plaza and this guy from Channel 9 news interviewed us…sadly it was OFF camera.  But those vans that are pro-life that have images of aborted babies on them were circling the Plaza and he was getting people’s reactions, so yeah.  We talked to him…felt like a FOOL, why is it you can never sound smart at the times that matter most?  DANG!
Um…whoever invented Funfetti, I love you and I think  I speak on behalf of the whole world when I say THANK YOU and YOU ARE A GENIUS.  Cake batter and icing that actually makes you FEEL happy…I highly recommend it.  Stop by the Riester house and I would be glad to give you a cupcake.
Okay need to go lay down…mom “hooked” me up, if you know what I’m saying…wooo!!
